In 2012 a new airport was opened in Mbeya which makes it possible to travel from Dar Es Salaam to Blue Canoe in one day. Take the morning flight from Dar Es Salaam to Mbeya and arrive at Blue Canoe in the afternoon or leave Blue Canoe in the morning to take the evening flight from Mbeya to Dar Es Salaam.
You can book your flight online on www.fastjet.com/tz. Between Mbeya and Matema Beach it is a four-hour-drive through a fascinating mountainous landscape. Contact us if you want us to arrange your transfer (one way: app. $180 in a 4x4 shuttle, TSH 180,000/= in a taxi).
The remoteness of Blue Canoe Safari Camp is one reason for its unspoilt and unpolluted nature.
