Lake Nyasa contains over a thousand species of fish, more than the North American and European continent combined. The majority of the species belong to the family of Cichlidae, but there are lungfish, elephant-noses, eels and catfish as well. Many of them are very colourful and have interesting behaviours – making it fascinating to watch them.
